Environmental Lawyer Duties: Will provide environmental legal counsel to U.S.-based company's businesses and will work closely with commercial, operations and environmental personnel, and outside legal and technical resources. Will also work with other company's lawyers and paralegals who provide legal counsel to company's worldwide as part of a multidisciplinary team. Provide environmental compliance counseling to U.S.-based company's businesses, including counsel on the application of environmental laws and regulation to U.S. operations; preventive law training and education; and guidance on compliance with company policies and procedures;provide environmental legal advice relating to mergers and acquisitions, dispositions and other transactions involving real property, including due diligence, negotiation and drafting of contract terms, and new asset integration; manage environmental enforcement and litigation relating to company's businesses, including information requests, investigations, administrative matters, enforcement actions and litigation, and the retention, supervision and management of outside counsel; and provide legal advice to company's businesses on a variety of environmental-related issues including proposed or new legislation and regulation, auditing, activities around corporate responsibility and sustainability issues and achievement of corporate environmental goals. Qualifications: A law degree and license to practice law with significant practical experience in environmental law. (3-6 years of diverse, full time environmental practice experience is preferred. Excellent academic track record (top 25% of law school class preferred). Candidates with a scientific/technical background, energy sector experience or health and safety experience will be considered. Ability to effectively manage risk and apply judgment in counseling. Excellent drafting, advocacy and communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts and influence others at all levels of the organization. Strong strategic conceptual strengths and the ability to manage change. Ability to serve as a business partner and use creative, resilient approaches to solving legal problems. Ability and desire to collaborate with others as part of a diverse team to meet corporate goals.
