Texas - State and Local Tax Senior Staff

Dallas TX State and Local Tax Senior Staff
The candidate will assist on various state and local tax projects within the income/franchise and sales/use tax service lines in the State and Local Tax team. Will perform tax research and work with clients on state and local tax matters including: tax planning and implementation; tax due diligence; state tax controversies with state jurisdictions; preparation and technical review of corporate and pass-through entity state income/franchise tax returns; state tax matters related to FAS 109, FAS 5 and ASC 740; and assistance in client management and practice development activities. Will also assist in growing company's State and Local Tax practice and be actively involved in the community.

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting. MST or J.D. degree is a plus. Must have 4+ years of tax experience in public accounting, consulting or industry with a state and local tax focus. State income/franchise tax consulting and compliance experience required. Sales and use tax consulting and compliance experience is a plus. Licensed CPA and/or CMI designation preferred. Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Office, Go-System software, CCH and RIA Checkpoint desired.

Note: Travel is limited, although some overnight travel may be required.

Will be responsible for preparation of computations with oversight from more senior personnel. May work with tax law and accounting provisions, assist with preparation of statutory filings and/or tax returns, and provide support to tax managers in audits and response to various taxing authority notices. May focus on compliance or provision activities, provide guidance on indirect taxation issues, and/or advise on best practices when preparing and submission of documents to Internal Revenue Service. Perform federal, international and/or state tax research, as required.

The candidate should have an undergraduate degree in accounting or related field. An advanced degree in accounting, taxation, or law would be preferred. Professional certification is preferred. Should have experience in preparing relevant tax forms and use of systems in support of such activity.
