Corporate Counsel - Legal Duties: Responsible for regulatory compliance for new clubs and businesses, overseeing, with assistance from two licensing professionals, routine regulatory compliance and license renewals and serving as primary counsel for certain licensed/regulated business units. Implement a formal, company-wide compliance function. Serve as general primary counsel for licensed/regulated business units. Facilitate implementation of a company wide compliance function, including development of operating standards and training. Support chief compliance officer to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and company policy. Advise on liquor laws, medi spa and laser laws, lab regulations, child care regulations, post secondary school laws, cosmetology/massage laws, food/restaurant establishment laws, etc. across multiple jurisdictions and in Canada. Advise on structuring relationships with physicians, chiropractors and other health personnel, and draft and negotiate related agreements. Responsible for legal matters relating to opening new fitness facilities each year, including advising on operational, regulatory and licensing matters for all inside businesses. Work closely with business partners to evaluate new business ideas and programs for feasibility and legal compliance and assist with legal execution . Negotiate with numerous state and local regulators for approval of programs and activities and address regulatory violations. Draft and update policies. Assist with the development of a company wide legal and regulatory compliance framework identifying and mitigating risks specific to operations. Manage two professionals responsible for obtaining new operational licenses and maintaining compliance with approximately 2,000 existing licenses and business registrations. Qualifications: Four year college degree. JD Degree. Preferably 2-5 years of related experience. Licensed to practice law in Minnesota. Ability to build relationships with all levels of clients and government representatives. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to multi task and learn quickly. Ability to handle and resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful manner. Ability to operate a personal computer and knowledge of standard office procedures and computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
