In-house Commercial Corporate Counsel The candidate will provide research, advice and other legal assistance to various individuals/departments within the company. Will advise business units on matters requiring developed legal and counseling skills in one or more specified areas of expertise, specifically in the areas of contract negotiation, product development, intellectual property, regulatory and compliance review and legal risk identification and mitigation. Prepare and review drafts and final copies of legal documents and correspondence within an assigned area and within the scope of developed legal expertise, including products and customer and supplier contracts. Analyze and prepare drafts of complex legal documents and correspondence as part of a project team with senior lawyers and management and negotiate documents, as required. Identify issues, conduct legal research, analyze the law, prepare briefings memoranda, and advise internal clients regarding multiple issues requiring developed skills in specified areas of expertise. Perform initial customer dispute resolution. Respond to inquiries from regulatory authorities agencies, customers and the wider sales, product and business community. Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the assigned vertical. Develop strategies to mitigate legal risk and to avoid litigation. Negotiate and/or approve changes to legal documents requiring an intermediate level of expertise. Manage assigned projects to completion. Assist more senior lawyers and management in higher level matters, as needed. Perform all other duties as assigned.
The candidate should be a qualified lawyer. Proven background of relevant post qualification experience in private practice or in-house legal department experience preferred. Experience in handling regulatory matters, including DPA, Competition law and FCA is a plus. Experience in the insurance industry is a plus.
