Corporate Counsel- Privacy, Consumer Protection & IP The candidate will assist with a variety of legal matters arising in a global retail environment with a focus on privacy, intellectual property, and consumer protection matters. Will work under the supervision of the Associate General Counsel, advising on a diverse and challenging array of matters affecting the company. Will support privacy needs of the Company, oversee the intersection of privacy and data security, working closely with IT, Marketing, Retail, Legal and the Service Excellence Center teams. Will develop and periodically update privacy and data security training for all divisions and oversee execution. Will partner with business units to integrate privacy considerations into business planning. Will chair the privacy and data security committee. Will help manage commercial litigation and claims matters, including consumer protection and product safety matters. Will advise on promotional, marketing and advertising matters, including review of material for compliance with all applicable laws and requirements. Will negotiate, draft and review contracts including service, marketing, licensing, consulting and other business agreements. Will provide advice and counsel regarding copyright, trademark and domain name issues. Will conduct legal research, analysis and benchmarking as needed. Will help develop and implement new processes, policies and training as needed, based on legal and regulatory requirements, industry standards and best practices. Will use sound judgment in balancing legal risk against business needs and goals. Will provide strategic, creative and effective legal and business advice. Will work collaboratively with paralegals, Legal team and business clients. Will other duties as assigned. The candidate should have J.D. degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school. Admitted and member in good standing with the New York bar (or ability to waive in to become a member). Should have minimum 4-6 years relevant legal experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house. Should have excellent judgment and the highest level of personal integrity. Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should be able to balance multiple projects while remaining highly organized. Should have deadline driven and able to work effectively under pressure. Should be well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills; high attention to detail. Should have ceative problem solver who is able to deliver clear, strategic advice to clients in a timely manner. Should be task-oriented with excellent sense of prioritization. Should be self-starter who is resourceful and able to work effectively both independently, as well as with teams. Should have excellent interpersonal skills; team player who is flexible and adaptable. Should be proficient with technology including with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Should have ability to be present and work full time at the company designated office location.
