Assistant Vice President and Senior Corporate Counsel The candidate provides legal advice, carries out actions which have an impact upon the rights, privileges and responsibilities of the Company while maintaining high standards of legal and business ethics and professional responsibility, and manages a team of legal professionals. Primarily responsible for the design, implementation, legal analysis, advocacy and continued maintenance of firm s Global Corporate Governance procedures and Insurance Regulatory and related filings and (b) the management of the legal professionals administering the same. Acts as the technical legal specialist in the area of Global Corporate Governance and Insurance Regulatory law and handles the most complex legal assignments with respect thereto. Secondarily provides legal advice and assistance on other strategic initiatives handled by the Corporate Legal Services Group including mergers and acquisitions, capital initiatives and reinsurance. Represents and advises the Company in substantial legal and business transactions which require legal expertise and generally involve a high degree of original and creative legal endeavor, evaluation of complex or novel issues, or vigorous adverse parties. Provides advice and counsel to client department managers; participates as requested in the formulation of policy for the Company. Performs comprehensive research and analysis in assigned areas of specialization; directs, focuses and refines comprehensive research of others. Representative duties include: Planning legal strategies; Coordinating and assisting in the development of the Company s position in response to changes in the law; Representing the Company before legislative, regulatory and administrative bodies; and Managing legal professionals; all in conjunction with the legal client departments. Assign, direct and review the work of other legal professionals. Provides training on legal concepts and preventative law to internal clients. Maintains current knowledge of legal issues and developments in the law; evaluates legal trends for impact on the Company. Other duties as assigned by practice group manager. Should have ompletion of law school with a J.D. Degree or L.L.B. degree and admission to the Bar of one jurisdiction in the United States. Must have 8+ years' experience as a practicing attorney, however, 15+ years is preferred.
