Corporate Employment Counsel Duties: Provides legal advice regarding employment and labor related matters including but not limited to federal, state and local labor and employment laws and compliance issues (including wage and hour, discrimination, labor arbitrations and ULP charges, FMLA, ADA, and leave requirements), discipline and terminations, restrictive covenants, employee complaints, compensation and benefits, severance, non-compete agreements and other employment related legal matters. Identifies and assesses legal risks within the employment area, interprets laws and regulations impacting the employer/employee relationship, guides policy development, training, and compliance efforts on behalf of the Company, and assists in strategic employment related initiatives. Investigates and responds to regulatory requests and charges, including DOL audit inquiries and EEOC and state agency charges. Engages, oversees, directs and evaluates outside counsel representing the company to ensure requisite expert legal advice is cost-effectively obtained. Provides advice on employee compensation plans and programs and employee benefit issues, including health, welfare and retirement plans. Provides guidance and assists the company s CHRO and business units Human Resources leadership on complex employee and labor relations issues and legal matters. Educates company leadership on employment related legal matters, policies and procedures. Develops and delivers presentations and training to employees, including management, within area of responsibility. Establishes and maintains relationships, credibility and trust with internal and external business partners, stakeholders, legal team members and other colleagues. Manages internal employment related investigations.

Qualifications: JD Degree and 8+ years of relevant legal experience. Licensed to practice law and in good standing. Prior experience providing legal advice regarding employment issues is required; experience with multi-national employee population is preferred. Prior in-house legal experience is a strong plus. Must have the ability to travel both domestically and internationally. Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate effectively with internal clients at all organizational levels, as well as with external stakeholders such as agencies and outside counsel. Ability to challenge the status quo, advocate unpopular positions as appropriate, make difficult judgment calls and provide effective perspective on labor and employment matters. Must be able to handle company confidential information and data requiring the highest degree of attention to preserve confidentiality. Strong organizational skills; self-starter with demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle unanticipated situations and effectively work under pressure. Effective software skills, including use of Microsoft Office and web-based applications. Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative and constructive working relationships and to quickly become a trusted business partner. Demonstrated capacity to accept and grow from constructive feedback. Continuous improvement mindset.
