Senior Corporate Counsel- Privacy Responsibilities: Provides legal advice and counseling on privacy laws and regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices; Performs research and fact-gathering necessary to support and document advice and to respond to external inquiries; Performs privacy impact assessments and similar analyses of existing and proposed products, services, systems, and processes, and creates appropriate design and compliance requirements; Partners with and provides counsel and support to the Information Security and Enterprise Risk Management teams; Prepares and presents privacy and security presentations and advocacy to internal and external groups; Drafts and negotiates privacy and data security provisions in commercial contracts; Drafts internal and public-facing privacy policies, privacy resources, and other documentation; Analyzes proposed privacy and security legislation and regulations and provides subject matter expertise to the Government Affairs team; Conducts targeted privacy training to raise privacy and security awareness across the enterprise; Assists with data incident response and remediation efforts; Assists with the development and implementation of privacy compliance controls and reviews; Assists with merger and acquisition due diligence and integration activities related to privacy and security; and Assists with other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications: JD Degree from a reputable law school; Current Washington State Bar membership, in good standing (or good standing membership in at least one U.S. state bar, with the ability to become a licensed member of the Washington State bar); 3+ years experience as a lawyer in a law firm or in-house legal department, with a practice focus on privacy law; Working knowledge of major privacy and security laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, CANSPAM, TCPA, FTC Act, HIPAA, GLBA, FCRA, State Breach laws, etc.); Contract negotiation experience (e.g., negotiating privacy and security provisions in master service agreements, statements of work, etc.); Demonstrated ability to perform and document detailed privacy research and synthesize advice into concise summaries; Demonstrated ability to identify relevant facts (and separate irrelevant facts) and apply a governing legal framework or policy; Demonstrated ability to provide practical and actionable advice in a dynamic and ambiguous legal environment; Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously; and Excellent verbal and written language skills. Preferred: 4-8 years experience as a lawyer in a law firm or in-house legal department, with a practice focus on privacy law; Practical experience in cybersecurity law; Practical experience with the development and implementation of privacy and security compliance programs; Practical experience leading complex projects and other high-impact initiatives; Practical experience in the field of telecommunications law (including CPNI regulations); Demonstrated ability to interact with senior management and the capacity to develop executive maturity and leadership skills; and CIPP certification.
