Provides legal advice and counsel regarding legal matters. Advise management, Human Resources, and other personnel regarding a broad range of employment law issues, including use of background checks, compensation and compliance with FLSA, immigration, performance management and discipline, discrimination, harassment and other employment-related complaints, employment policies, leaves of absence and accommodation requests, employee-related regulations (including FMLA, ADA, ADEA, GINA, FCRA, HIPAA, USERRA, WARN) and employment-related aspects of corporate transactions. Oversee, conduct, and provide counsel on internal investigations of employment-related and other types of claims. Assist on a variety of commercial transactions including the acquisition and disposition of businesses and major assets. Draft various legal documents in connection with the overall representation of the company including sales, purchasing, licensing and employment-related agreements, corporate resolutions and minutes, research memoranda, etc. Prepare various reports for presentation or internal distribution. Monitor federal, state, and local legal developments and advise on compliance with same. Conduct legal research as required. Provide legal advice and counsel on varied commercial matters such as commercial agreements, intellectual property, banking regulations, bankruptcy, antitrust, trade regulations, consumer protection regulations, privacy, etc. Assist in the implementation of effective document management and compliance processes.

The candidate must have Bachelor's degree (postgraduate business degree preferable); law degree from accredited law school; actively qualified to practice law in a North American jurisdiction (a Texas law license is preferred). Should have 4-6+ years of current and continuing employment and commercial law experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department. Must have demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Experience relative to Title VII, ADEA, ADA, and EEOC discrimination/harassment claims; ADA compliance, including review and evaluation of requests for workplace accommodations; FMLA, and USERRA requests. Should have demonstrated employment litigation experience. Must have excellent communication (written and oral), drafting, and negotiation skills. Should have ability to provide high-quality work product in a timely manner to meet demands of the organization and to effectively and efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Must have ability to relate to senior managers and to assess and meet their requirements as internal customers. Should have demonstrated ability to maintain highest confidences and integrity in directing, managing, or participating in Human Resources matters and internal investigations in conjunction with Human Resources and Compliance groups. Must have ability to carry out duties and responsibilities in an organized and detail-oriented manner. Should have strong problem solving skills. Must have ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with both external customers and internal team members. Should have ability to plan and prioritize projects and to manage them from conception to conclusion including identifying and resolving problems to ensure project accuracy and timelines. Should have working knowledge of personal computers, productivity software applications, and web applications.
