Corporate Counsel The candidate will act as a true business partner to the Companys operations, actively supporting various legal needs of the Company under the supervision of the Assistant General Counsel. Responsibilities include: Take an active role in coordinating with corporate and operations personnel at all levels, including Canadian operations (supported by outside counsel), to provide risk management analysis and support. Support for customer, transactional and other general operational matters, including drafting and managing correspondence, change order requests, demand letters and the like, and for all customer disputes, including managing litigation when necessary. Provide guidance, assistance and back-up/overflow resources as necessary to the Companys Contract Manager - Legal. Will be the sole legal department resource to serve the Canadian operations contract needs. Oversee subpoena response efforts. Manage legal aspect of collection matters, including document management and lien filings. Provide assistance for customer bankruptcies, including preliminary assessment of amounts due and potential preference claims. Provide guidance and investigation support to Human Resources on employee issues as necessary, including merit and union shops. Assist with legal training for on-site operations personnel. Perform any other related functions as necessary to fulfill the above requirements or at the direction of Supervisor. The candidate should preferably be a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited and well-respected institute; admission in good standing to the Bar. Must have 5+ years of legal experience; compensation commensurate. Previous in-house experience is required. Employment, EPC, litigation or construction experience is desired. Should have strong initiative as well as excellent management, teamwork, creative thinking and problem solving skills. Must have desire to learn the business and understand market as well as internal drivers. Ability to quickly assess risk and provide meaningful business-savvy guidance a plus. Familiarity with employment law is beneficial.
