VP, Senior Corporate Counsel And Manager, Coverage Unit The candidate will have significant coverage and litigation knowledge and expertise to lead and manage the coverage unit. Responsibilities: Responsible for accomplishments of the goals and objectives of the coverage unit. Establishes goals that are in accordance with Corporate and Legal Department goals. Provides leadership to staff towards the accomplishment goals. Provides direction, support, development opportunities and feedback to staff. Evaluates performance and takes appropriate action to correct deficiencies. Ensure ongoing communication across coverage and litigation group and collaboration with other groups within the legal department. Continually improve processes and procedures to improve efficiencies within group and enhance the value of services provided to clients. Advises the Company in substantial legal matters requiring significant legal expertise, a high degree of original and creative legal endeavor and a strategic evaluation of complex or novel issues, or vigorous adverse parties. Provides advice and counsel to internal clients, keeps clients apprised of relevant legal trends and developments in insurance law and evaluates legal trends for impact on Company, provides ongoing education to internal clients and colleagues on insurance coverage and related litigation issues. Coordinates and assists in the development of the Company's position in response to changes in the law, participates as requested in the formulation of policy for the Company. In conjunction with clients and outside counsel, formulates and directs comprehensive litigation strategies. Collaborates with clients and business partners to coordinate organizational response to enterprise-wide exposures, including working with enterprise counsel, developing internal task forces, implementing internal protocols, establishing regular cadence for internal reporting and providing ongoing legal analyses. Maintain robust feedback loop with business partners on underwriting and product related issues. Participate in internal enterprise risk management committees, report on trends and developments in emerging and ongoing tort and legal exposures. Quarterly reporting to internal clients in business units on coverage work and litigation, including trends and developments. Regular reporting to Chief Legal Officer on significant matters, enterprise-wide matters, legal trends and developments and other issues as appropriate. Excellent analytic, legal writing and communication skills are required. Familiarity with corporate operations and SBU objectives is required. Requires expert knowledge of a specialized area of law. Completion of law school with a J.D. or L.L.B. degree and admission to the bar of at least one jurisdiction in the United States required. Should have 15+ years' experience as a practicing attorney.
