Manager - Corporate Attorney

Manager - Corporate Attorney The candidate will provide legal support and guidance to Michaels leadership and team members in a variety of areas including, merchandising, marketing, sourcing, privacy and product compliance support. Structure, draft and negotiate legal contracts in a wide variety of business areas. Review and draft policies in a wide variety of legal areas. Perform legal research and analysis. Assist with other legal functions as requested by VP Assistant General Counsel or other senior attorneys in the Department. Other duties as assigned.

The candidate must have JD degree from Top 50 Law School. Must be licensed to practice in at least one jurisdiction. Should have 5-10 years progressive work experience. Should have experience with either regulatory matters in the consumer products space (including interaction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and/or experience with CA Proposition 65) or marketing and advertising regulations. Should have experience with contracts and strong drafting skills. Must have familiarity with compliance and regulatory bodies. Should have legal research and analytical capabilities. Must have strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Should have outstanding negotiation & influence skills. Should preferably have JD degree from a top 25 law school. Prior working experience within the retail or consumer products industries is highly desirable. 3+ years of large law firm experience is desirable. Should preferably have experience with Canadian regulatory matters. International experience (including China) or IP law (focusing on trademarks/tradenames) is a plus.
