Assistant General Counsel Corporate Payment Systems The candidate will provide excellent advice and guidance to clients and colleagues on a variety of legal matters. Will work to attract, retain, and develop great people in an inclusive environment where each person is valued for the distinct skills and attributes they bring to the group. Will participate in the community, and investment in the development of the department. Will provide legal support related to Banks various corporate charge card programs, including its travel and expense card and purchasing card programs, its aviation and fleet card networks, and its freight payment solutions. Provide legal counsel in connection with the negotiation and drafting of contracts with Banks customers, vendors and partners in the charge card arena. Provide legal counsel to the CPS relationship managers in matters such as interpreting contract language, considering strategic alternatives, and advising on possible defaults and remedial options. Will work with outside legal counsel and other professional advisors regarding new product initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and technology driven advancements. Will be responsible for interpretation, application and revision of various CPS policies and procedures. Supervise and mentor junior level attorney supporting the CPS division. Will interact with the CPS contract negotiator team.
The candidate should have Law degree. Should be licensed in good standing to practice law in at least one jurisdiction. Should preferably have 7+ years of experience at either a law firm or in-house corporate environment. Prior experience in the payments or card product sectors is an advantage. In-depth knowledge of commercial contracts, financial services and the operating environment of financial institutions will be preferred. Should preferably have comfort with and interest in working on a variety of legal matters relating to cutting edge payment technologies, able to work on a diverse mix of matters with minimal supervision, able to timely exercise independent legal judgment and discretion to reach an appropriate business and risk-oriented outcome, excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, strong commitment to client service.
