Corporate Counsel - Data Security & Privacy Duties: Counsel and advise senior management and various legal, IT security, and business teams on mitigating global cybersecurity and privacy risks; Monitor evolving laws, regulations, and best practices in the areas of cybersecurity and privacy to help identify critical legal issues and practical compliance solutions for the Company; Work closely with internal business partners to understand their business processes, applications, projects, and technologies to ensure compliance with relevant global cybersecurity and privacy laws, regulations, and best practices; Help design and embed data security and privacy requirements and controls into projects, products, technologies, initiatives, and services throughout the Company; Draft, review, and support negotiations regarding data security and privacy contractual provisions and controls in a wide variety of commercial agreements and arrangements in the 130+ countries and territories around the world where Marriott conducts business; Develop and implement effective global and local strategies, policies, notices, standards, controls, and training materials in the areas of cybersecurity and privacy; Provide legal and investigations support for the Company's global information security and privacy incident response program; Identify and advise on legal and compliance issues arising out of various internal and external data security and privacy audits, assessments, tests, reviews, and ongoing program improvement efforts; Provide legal and investigations support in global regulatory investigations and related follow-on litigation in the areas of cybersecurity and privacy; Maintain strong coordination, cooperation, and mutual support between the Law Department and other corporate departments with compliance obligations to ensure data security and privacy compliance roles and responsibilities are fulfilled effectively, such as Internal Audit, Human Resources, Risk Management (Insurance, Intelligence, and Investigations), Consumer Operations, Communications, Government Affairs, Finance, Information Technology, Global Operations, and Owner & Franchise Services.

Qualifications: Excellent academic record with a law degree (JD Degree) from a top law school; Admission to the Bar of a US state; 5+ years legal experience preferably in data security, privacy, and/or related litigation or regulatory compliance/investigations experience; High degree of technical competence and familiarity with computer systems and networks, including leading IT-security technologies and terminology; Outstanding analytical, writing, and oral presentation skills; Good working knowledge of key cybersecurity and privacy laws, regulations, and best practices (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, LGPD, and the China Cybersecurity Law); Experience in providing advice and counsel on legal and ethical compliance matters, with a focus on individual integrity and principled business conduct; Experience in handling data security or privacy incidents across disciplines and managing data-incident response plans for potential breaches; and Experience interfacing with government authorities having jurisdiction over privacy and data security compliance and enforcement matters. Highly collaborative team player; Outstanding analytical, writing, and oral presentation skills; Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and resources with a sense of urgency and to navigate within a complex organization in a deadline-driven environment; Independent and creative thinker with the ability to manage, structure, negotiate, and execute complex transactions; Ability to expeditiously identify and analyze issues and provide legally sound recommendations consistent with good business practices and reason; Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to interact effectively and work diplomatically with individuals at all levels; Ability to foster relationships and individual accountability across the organization; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Proven contract drafting and negotiating skills; Excellent conflict management skills and ability to influence without coercion; Ability to integrate and balance priorities, work activities, and resources for the benefit of multiple key stakeholders; Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and to facilitate the implementation of creative solutions; Ability to work independently, take ownership of and effectively resolve problems; and Availability for business travel.
