Litigation Corporate Counsel Responsibilities: Manage activities in court and arbitration, including litigation and settlement strategies, and managing outside counsel. Serve as a strategic issue spotter for the business, identifying risks and opportunities early, positioning issues favorably, objectively, and accurately assessing strengths and weaknesses, and minimizing or resolving disputes where possible. Spearhead initiatives to prevent litigation against the company by identifying structural and process improvements and providing professional training on risk mitigation across the organization. Assist with internal or government investigations. To the extent desired, work across Legal Department to gain exposure to construction contracts and subcontracts, corporate governance issues, and related work. Qualifications: JD Degree with strong credentials and membership in good standing with a state Bar. 7+ years of litigation experience, including experience assessing legal, reputational, and business risk in difficult and high-stakes situations under acute time pressure. Experience with construction and/or government contracts is an advantage. A proven leader with the demonstrated ability to coordinate strategy and drive effective collaboration among senior executives, project teams, and outside counsel. A dedicated team member with a passion to continue the success of a longstanding institution and the mentality to lead solutions to the most challenging disputes a multi-billion-dollar for-profit enterprise faces. An outstanding communicator who can explain complex issues clearly, work effectively with most senior leaders, navigate challenging conversations with others at all levels of the organization, and persuade internal and external stakeholders without breaking glass.
