Principal Corporate Counsel, Payments Responsibilities: Provide timely, concise and business-focused legal advice in areas including eCommerce, payments law, consumer financial laws, data privacy laws, consumer protection laws, new rules and enforcement actions, and provide product development guidance on the design and modification of programs and services, including the Commerce Platform. Proactively identify associated risks and recommend mitigation strategies, review product user experience and advise on legal compliance, and help document guidance for consumption by members of both the legal and engineering teams. Day-to-day interaction with business clients, business lawyers and engineering teams. Qualifications: Law degree (JD, LLB or equivalent) from an accredited US law school with excellent academic credentials. Admission to and in good standing with the state bar of at least one U.S. state. 6+ years of experience as a practicing attorney either in-house (or in an equivalent setting) or at a reputable law firm, with 1+ year of those years focused on payments law. Prior payments and product legal experience required. Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under challenging circumstances. Outstanding written and oral communication skills and ability to work both in teams and independently. Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, with effective resolution of conflicting priorities. Openness to adapting practice in response to the changing landscape of the industry. Facilitate a team-based approach to subject matter management and knowledge sharing, and comfort with a flexible, agile environment that emphasizes collaboration and team performance over management hierarchy. Desire and ability to work as part of a team and with diverse groups and cultures.
