Corporate Counsel - Independent Contractor Relations The candidate will be the company's subject matter expert on independent contractor matters and the company's relationship with driver partners, and report to the company's Associate General Counsel (Labor, Employment and Driver Policy). Will work closely with the company's legal, government affairs, and delivery operations teams to create and maintain best in class strategies, policies, and procedures. Advise the business on developments in the engagement and regulation of independent contractors. Monitor and comment on legislative and regulatory developments at the federal, state, and local levels. Represent the company in industry, legislative and regulatory discussions. Draft and negotiate various commercial contracts involving delivery partners. Develop policies and strategies to manage and educate internal clients with respect to risks related to the engagement and classification of independent contractors. Manage litigation strategy and active cases involving delivery partners. Partner with internal clients to solve legal, risk, business, and reputational issues. Sync with the product, operations, comms, and other teams to advise on independent contractor workforce matters. Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects. Populate and maintain regulatory reports and data sets. Must be in good standing and be admitted to a US State Bar. Should preferably have 6 years of legal experience focused on independent contractor compliance preferably with 1-2 years of in-house experience (particularly at a logistics company). Expertise in national and state laws and regulations relating to the engagement of independent contractors is required.
