Associate General Counsel - Merchandising Marketing and Supply Chain
The candidate will handle transportation and distribution areas of the merchandising, marketing and supply chain section of company's legal division. Will be the primary legal contact for the transportation division of company's US operations, providing legal counsel on regulatory, contracts, claims management and general business projects. Daily work will include: general contract work, negotiation of complex commercial transactions, legal counsel on matters ranging from regulatory compliance to corporate governance, policy and procedure review, and other matters impacting day to day operations.
The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials. Should be licensed to practice law in good standing in at least one state. Must have 9+ years of experience in a corporate legal department, law firm or governmental agency. Should have experience in the areas of transportation and retail distribution, including familiarity with the Carmack regulatory regime, the regulation of private and commercial motor vehicles, compliance with transportation safety standards, oversight of commercial freight shipment activity and contracts of carriage. Experience with the following agencies is a plus: FMCSA, PHMSA, STB, EPA, ATF and FDA. Should preferably have 1 year of supervisory experience.
