Provide tax legal advice and guidance to Novartis U. S. country organization management and tax personnel, as well as Novartis affiliates Global tax personnel. Follow applicable U.S. federal and state tax legislation, research applicable law, and identify/analyze U.S. federal and state tax planning opportunities. Research international tax matters, and assist in advising on intercompany transfer pricing matters; assist with intercompany transfer pricing compliance and other international matters. Provide tax legal advice and assistance to tax compliance and tax audit functions. Work on acquisition and divestitures projects (including due diligence, structuring, reviewing and drafting tax provisions as well as integration). Perform special tax projects, as required. Contribution to Novartis tax strategy through optimal and compliant tax planning, including initiation, execution and risk management. Proactive Tax Planning and Tax Risk management at the forefront of upcoming changes in tax regulations and policies (national and international) Contribution to development of corporate tax team members Timeliness and accuracy of support and advice.

The candidate should have J.D. and LLM in Taxation with additional qualifications in corporate tax law and admission to the Bar. English, other languages a plus. Must have 6+ years experience corporate tax planning with national/global law firm, big 4 accounting firm and/or in house experience.

Vice President, Corporate Counsel - Tax The candidate will be responsible for the overall tax affairs of Prudential Financial Inc. and its subsidiaries (Prudential) and has responsibility in planning, advising, managing tax legal risks on behalf of the Enterprise involving both company and product tax matters. Be proactive in raising the sensitivity of tax consequences associated with corporate tax transactions of Tax Department personnel and business partners. Developing and maintaining relationships with key business personnel to make sure that Tax is appropriately integrated in the business so that the Tax Department gets the necessary information from the businesses and communicates necessary information back to the business. Providing tax legal advice and interpretation of tax law for businesses. Ensuring that tax implications are appropriately considered and reported in Company initiatives. The candidate must have 5-7 years of U.S. corporate income tax experience a legal capacity preferably with a major law firm, Big 4 accounting firm, or the Tax Department of a major corporation, or public service. Should have J.D. degree and licensed attorney in a State Bar. LLM in taxation is helpful. CPA is desired. Strong public speaking and written communication skills are required. Must be comfortable regularly interacting with and challenging senior management is needed.
