Corporate Counsel The candidate will focus on product and commercial matters, including data privacy and technology transactions. Will report to Associate General Counsel and will advise nearly every team at company, including product, engineering, data science, client experience, information security, IT, and marketing. Provide data privacy expertise to all functions, and help manage company s data privacy compliance program. Shepherd the company through commercial transactions. Help product teams design attractive and effective products that comply with consumer protection laws and industry standards. Provide legal advice to company s product, engineering, data science, client experience, information security, IT, and marketing teams as we expand and improve our product offerings. Advise on compliance with global data privacy laws and regulations, including consumer data collection, protection, retention, security, and breach practices. Draft, negotiate and advise our internal company clients on commercial agreements, including licensing, marketing, apparel purchasing, and production, and consulting agreements. Collaborate with the rest of the company in-house legal team, our outside counsel, and our internal clients to handle the varied legal questions that arise in the course of operating a data-driven, consumer-facing, multi-billion dollar publicly-listed fashion retailer.
The candidate should have J.D. from a top-tier law school, are a member of a state bar, and have at least 4+ years combined experience as a product, privacy, tech transactions, or commercial lawyer in a law firm, government agency, or in-house legal department. Must be familiar with global data privacy regulations and industry standards, and have experience translating them into actionable guidance for business and technical teams. Should have experience working in or with eCommerce, retail, digital marketing, or data science-driven, consumer-facing companies.
