Senior Corporate Counsel / Associate General Counsel

Senior Corporate Counsel / Associate General Counsel The candidate work on a collaborative legal and intellectual property team. The roles primary responsibility will be to support the clinical and technical operation departments at company and to draft, negotiate, and manage a broad variety of collaborations and contracts in support of companys R&D, clinical operations, manufacturing, technical operations, procurement, and general business operations. There will also be opportunities to counsel and advise internal clients on a broad range of other legal and regulatory issues faced in the field of genomic medicine. Will identify and provide support to further both business and legal strategies while working cross-functionally with various departments. With limited oversight, negotiating and drafting various transactions and contracts (e.g. manufacturing, quality, services, collaboration/partnership, licensing, commercialization, confidential disclosure, material transfer, sponsored research, clinical trial, letter of indemnification, grant application/award, sub-award). Acting as a business partner supporting the functional needs of the organization. Creating, updating and maintaining library of template contracts, policies, and playbooks. Communicating, educating, and providing training to colleagues on various issues, policies and processes. Managing outside counsel.

The candidate should have Juris Doctorate from a top accredited law school. Current bar admission in at least one jurisdiction; Admission in California preferred. Must have 5 years of relevant experience working in life sciences and 7 years as an attorney. Must have experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and/or life sciences industry, including experience with manufacturing and other technical contracts. Should have ability to draft and negotiate contracts independently with minimum supervision. Must have ability to prioritize and manage tasks efficiently, consistently and accurately in a high volume, fast paced environment. Ability to present complex issues in a clear and concise manner and provide succinct, practical and results-oriented legal advice is required. Must have prior experience supporting at least one of the following areas: Employment/HR, Finance, Corporate Compliance, Privacy or FDA activities.
