Senior Corporate Counsel, Regulatory Compliance Responsibilities: Manage FERC compliance for Tesla's growing utility-scale energy business, including QF self-certifications, MBR-related filings, NERC submissions, and ISO/RTO submissions. Sustain a culture of compliance, and proactively seek out the facts and internal contacts needed to do so. Advise on energy regulatory implications of existing and potential new strategies and markets, and de-risking new and existing strategies and markets. Provide legal counsel and support on energy regulatory compliance to the Associate General Counsel - Energy Products, other members of the Legal team, the executive team, and the company's Policy team. Collaborate with the Legal team and business clients to proactively identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk, as well as areas for improvement. Develop compliance policies and obtain stakeholder buy-in. Manage compliance efforts, including coordinating and prioritizing issues according to business need, developing action plans, and implementing solutions. Advise on, support and monitor the company's response to alleged violations of energy regulatory laws and rules. Represent the company in regulatory agency investigations and claims as appropriate and/or required. Identify and manage outside counsel and consultants to achieve results cost-effectively.

Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant work experience, including: at a law firm, and/or at a state or federal government entity, and/or experience as in-house in the energy industry. Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in working with legal and policy personnel and executives, and in making recommendations of significance regarding development and implementation of company policies and practices. The ability to learn on the job, and manage constantly changing priorities. The ability to build and lead a team. The ability to be a great teammate. The ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment. The ability to effectively articulate the Company's commitment to compliance, in communications at all levels within the Company and to the public, including agencies and regulators. Excellent written, and verbal communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong business acumen. Great judgment. Outstanding ethics. Enjoy a fast-paced, high growth, entrepreneurial environment where demands and priorities may change rapidly. Comfortable rolling up his/her sleeves and being hands-on. Robust organizational and time management skills. Excellent customer service skills required. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen. Results-driven, has a strong sense of urgency and is able to drive results. Fast-paced, yet detail oriented. Business-minded and comfortable in an environment where ROI matters. Intelligent and wise.
