Associate Corporate Counsel The candidate will review new claims against the company, monitor ongoing litigations for extra-contractual and bad faith concerns and assist U.S. claims management in decisions implicating potential extra-contractual and bad faith exposure. This position provides consultation, critical analysis and strategy development relative to the most complex and challenging claims circumstances across all Company business lines and jurisdictions. This position works with management stakeholders across the Company to mitigate extra-contractual risks. The Associate Corporate Counsel position maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust's mission, vision, and values along with upholding the standards and goals of the Litigation Department. Remote work considered/allowed. Some travel required (10% expected). Legal research and analysis, including providing conclusions and recommendations for claims handling decisions relative to bad faith and extra-contractual exposure; Provide coverage analysis with focus on bad faith and extra-contractual concerns; Develop and analyze broad claims, underwriting and litigation data with a focus on isolating areas of concern and improvement; Succinct presentation of complex issues to upper management in the Claim, Litigation and Underwriting Departments; Give guidance on additional investigation that may be required to resolve coverage and extra-contractual concerns; Communicate with underwriting for policy issue clarification; Inform concerning jurisdictional nuances; Determine if outside counsel advice is needed; Prepare and review correspondence responding to bad faith letters and accusations, Manage home office matters in coordination with Litigation Department protocols and leadership ; Monitor bad faith and extra-contractual matters in coordination with Litigation Department protocols and leadership; Maintain bad faith and extra-contractual subject matter expertise; Assist with deposition preparation and custodian interviews, Assist with litigation holds and ESI collections, Performs other functionally related duties as assigned; JD American Bar Association accredited law school, 3+ years industry experience (in-house or law firm), Focus on coverage issues preferred, Analytical and human relations skills are critical, Effective communication skills are required. ability to obtain information from others and deliver information to others orally and in written form.
