Corporate Counsel, Employment Responsibilities: Partner with the Human Resources Team and business managers to evaluate legal risk and provide subject matter expertise on a broad range of employment issues, including: recruiting and hiring, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour, compensation and benefits, and contingent workforce matters. Draft and revise employment-related agreements, templates, policies, and procedures, such as offer letters, contractor agreements, vendor agreements and more. Investigate and respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audits, and other employment-related inquiries (e.g., EEOC, DOL, NLRB, OSHA, DFEH, DLSE and other state related agencies). Conduct internal audits, classification reviews, and support other compliance efforts to ensure compliance with the FLSA, the California Labor Code, and state laws around the country. Handle and resolve employment claims and litigation, including managing outside counsel. Assist in developing and conducting training and education programs for employees, managers, and the Human Resources team. Monitor important developments in employment law in jurisdictions across the country.

Requirements: JD degree with strong academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar (California admission strongly preferred). 4+ years of experience with a national law firm or in an in-house position focused on multi-jurisdictional employment counseling and employment litigation. Extensive subject matter knowledge and practical experience with federal, state, and local employment law issues (including California-specific employment law expertise). Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a growing legal team and cross-functionally with members at all levels of the organization. Proven ability to evaluate risk in light of business and practical considerations and to make clear recommendations. Organized with the demonstrated ability to balance, triage, and manage multiple time-sensitive issues effectively and independently. Excellent writing and communication skills. Nice to Haves.. Willingness to contribute to substantive areas of law beyond employment. Self-motivated, efficient, and eager to constantly learn. Detailed-oriented but with the broad vision to see large and multi-step projects through to completion. Empathetic with excellent professional judgment and a good sense of humor. Prior in-house experience at a tech company or startup is strongly preferred .
