Senior Corporate Counsel Responsibilities: Serve as front-line responder to general legal inquiries and demands from third parties, including subpoenas and government demands for information, and in connection with litigation and other third-party disputes. Serve as legal advisor to various teams, including Security, across a range of subjects, including data security, incident response, regulatory compliance, and compliance with government demands. Collaborate with CELA, other teams, and, where appropriate, Microsoft stakeholders on all of the above, and lead consensus building and drive coordination with them.

Qualifications: JD Degree or equivalent and a license to practice law in the United States. 7+ years of relevant legal experience. Experience with intellectual property law, Internet law, and privacy, data security, and government compliance. Experience taking on projects involving different subject matters. Demonstrated success in issue spotting, problem solving, and the ability to be agile through change. Demonstrated commitment to provide high quality client service and a strong desire to build trusted advisor relationships with key clients and executives. High standards of integrity, a commitment to personal excellence, strong judgment, and intellectual curiosity that takes your understanding, work product and client relationships to the next level. A joy and passion for legal drafting that is clear, concise, and human readable, including an ability to simply describe complex legal and technical scenarios. A proven track record of success on cross-team collaborations and an ability to influence without authority. A desire and ability to perform as part of a diverse and inclusive team, and to foster a spirit of diversity, inclusion, and belonging across CELA. Energized by a dynamic, fast-paced, and remote-first workplace. Preferred Qualifications: Litigation experience and in-house experience. Familiarity with the Stored Communications Act and other laws and regulations covering service providers. Knowledge of open source software and law. Familiarity with using its collaboration features.
