Corporate Counsel Duties: The candidate reports to the CFO. Performs the legal work for the company, taking a hands-on approach where possible, but also managing outside counsel. Structures, drafts, negotiate and review a broad range of commercial agreements. Works cross-functionally with members of the growing business team at all levels of the organization. Provides practical, timely, strategic legal advice on money movement, privacy, and data protection matters grounded in understanding the firm's business, internal policies, and regulatory compliance obligations. Monitors, analyze and guide evolving laws, rules, regulations, and trends impacting the Quicken business. Supports the cybersecurity team, including incident response efforts, to address issues such as potential liability and other legal aspects related to privacy compliance and risk mitigation. Identifies issues requiring remediation and opportunities for process improvement.

Qualifications: The candidate should have a J.D.degree and be license to practice in California, or the ability to apply for California's Registered In-House Counsel. Experienced at the 4+ year Associate Level or above at a law firm. Prefer experience as an in-house lawyer at a fintech company, but will also consider applicants at a law firm with significant experience advising senior management at fintech companies. Comfortable interacting at the C-level/board level both inside the organization and with a large-scale customer base and outside partners. The startup experience is valuable. Ability and desire to get things done with limited resources. Strong strategic thinking skills. Exceptionally strong communication skills. Hands-on mindset and leadership style. Cultural fit at Quicken: Open, honest, collegial, up-beat, and pragmatic. Scrappy, entrepreneurial, self-starter who can manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to completion effectively.
