Seattle WA Corporate Counsel, Privacy The candidate will be a member of a collaborative privacy team that partners with business units to identify legal risks and requirements, champion privacy of customers and employees, and identify solutions for the business. Responsibilities include: managing and supervising a wide range of domestic and international disputes and risk areas, including worldwide competition and other litigation matter management and regulatory engagement; managing and conducting internal investigations; directly engaging with government officials, including regulators and law enforcement officers; directing overall case and matter strategy including selecting and managing outside counsel; assessing risk and coordinating with senior leadership on risk management; and providing advice and counsel to internal stakeholders on a broad spectrum of complex and often novel legal issues in areas such as antitrust, consumer protection, copyright, marketing, patents and trademarks, privacy and security, and First Amendment and content regulation law. Report to an Associate General Counsel, Litigation & Regulatory.

The candidate should have a J.D. degree and membership in good standing in at least one State Bar. Must have 10+ years of litigation and regulatory experience with 3 years of law firm experience. Hands-on experience in complex domestic and international business litigation, including trial experience and counseling parties and witnesses in a variety of pre-dispute and dispute resolution contexts is preferred. Broad experience advising on domestic and international competition litigation and regulatory issues is desired. Federal judicial clerkship is an asset. Familiarity with Internet, software, and/or media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate is a plus. Experience in crisis management and response is ideal.

Monitoring updates to laws and regulations to ensure compliance with applicable requirements; Updating and developing new policies and procedures, employee training programs, and practical guidance for business teams. Working closely with the Assistant General Counsel and local projects teams to assess claims and potential claims with an eye towards claims avoidance and dispute resolution. Working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including legal colleagues, risk management, senior management, and Human Resources to implement and enhance the company s compliance and ethics programs.

A Bachelor s degree and Juris Doctor from accredited school required. S. Bar admission in good standing is required. Experience in the engineering or construction industry is desirable. Should have 7-10 years of corporate law experience, including relevant litigation experience. Working knowledge of engineering and/or construction industry licensing laws and regulations desirable. Experience with regulatory requirements, and in building, implementing and monitoring effective compliance programs is preferred. Strong commitment to developing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external clients is needed. Should have ability to interact comfortably with executives and senior management; a sense of humor; an open mind; flexibility as to the types of projects assigned; and solid business acumen.
