US Tax Manager
The candidate will report to the Director of US tax operations for a multinational financial services company and is primarily responsible for providing research, analytical and quantitative support to the corporate tax function, finance units and business operations. Will have frequent interaction with the Head of Global Tax. Research, analyze, evaluate and answer technical tax questions. Developer and steward of significant tax matters involving compensation/ fringe benefits consulting, R&D tax credits, transaction cost analysis, valuation allowances and accounting method changes. Will be responsible for tax matters related to the company's investments in partnerships, passive foreign investment companies and co-investments, including associated deferred taxes. Provide technical support for income tax filing positions, financial statement reporting of taxes, income tax audits, restructurings and acquisition/ joint venture transactions. Prepare accurate responses in a timely manner, including memoranda and transaction-related documentation. Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments. Evaluate impact of tax legislation on the company, communicate to stakeholders and recommend a course of action. Will also support the company's advocacy and lobbying efforts. Assist in the development of research materials on tax questions/issues and provide explanations, analysis and recommendation to other departments.
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA/MST or tax attorney or LL.M. degree preferred. Must have 7+ years of tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting or national law firm and/or US multinational corporation with SEC filing requirements. Financial services experience a plus. Knowledge of tax research principles, procedures and techniques required. Should have demonstrated ability to research tax issues and effectively communicate findings both in writing and via presentations.
